A non-tomato post- Dance Fever!

Sunday, August 24, 2008

My obsession with tomatoes will subside. In the meantime, a few more obsessions have surfaced:

1) watching the olympics- I've lost so much sleep lately, staying up to see who wins the latest race or volleyball tournament. I don't ever get into volleyball or swimming outside of the Olympics, but for whatever reason, the olympics are different.
2) Michael Phelps- he's just so darn cute! I was cheering for him all the way. Go for the 8 golds, Michael!
3) Cheesecake factory's Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake, with extra whipped cream. Wow. and this is coming from a girl who doesn't like the taste of cream cheese. but put it with a bunch of chocolate and whipped cream and it's a winner.
4) This brings me to my most exciting obsession: Ballroom dancing.

I've always loved dancing shows and I took a few dance classes at BYU. well, I've been missing dancing, so I signed up for a class at a studio here in Redwood city. This is no beginner's class, where you spend an hour learning 1 step. This is an advanced class- where we learn the entire dance in an hour. (and there are some good dancers in the class). I felt a little lost, but I'm still going to go. I'm not sure what it is about dancing with a partner, maybe it's that I don't get much physical contact in my normal life and it feels good to connect with someone, or maybe it's that I just love the beautiful motions created while dancing, but I'm hooked. This is one habit I don't want to break.

Linda,

I love this post. It made me smile just reading it. O how I missing dancing. Brandan Hadlock talked me into taking a few Ballroom dance classes several summers in a row (I think he had a crush on the Dance teacher) But they were so much fun. Although I had no talent for dancing and would never be eliquent at it like Dancing with the Stars it was so fun to glide around the room.
